Fractures & injuries
Ligament injuries and sprains
Sprained or torn ligaments, most often in the ankle, knee, wrist or shoulder.
Common signs
- Sudden pain and swelling after a twist or fall
- A joint that feels loose or gives way
- Bruising around the joint
- Difficulty walking or putting weight on it
How we help
A herbal bandage supports the joint while the swelling settles. After that, seka sessions ease the pain and stiffness and help the joint move freely again.
See a doctor first if
You heard a pop and the joint gave way, the joint looks out of shape, or you can’t put any weight on it at all. An X-ray rules out a broken bone.
Treatments that can help
- Seka
Herbal bandaging for fractures (patti)
For broken bones: after checking your X-ray, a paste of medicinal herbs is bound around the injury, with bamboo splints where needed, and changed about every four days.
- Seka
Kalupada seka (herbal heat therapy)
Our traditional treatment: herbal oil on the painful area, a herbal bandage, and gentle heat from a warmed iron rod, only as warm as you can comfortably bear.
