Herbal bandaging for fractures (patti)
For broken bones: after checking your X-ray, a paste of medicinal herbs is bound around the injury, with bamboo splints where needed, and changed about every four days.
What happens
We look at your X-ray first, then decide whether to start with a herbal bandage or with seka. For most fresh fractures, a paste of medicinal herbs is spread on a cotton bandage and bound around the injury for two to four weeks. Small pieces of bamboo may be used as splints to hold the bone steady.
The bandage is changed about every four days with fresh herbal paste. Afterwards, Kalupada seka helps with the stiffness and swelling that are left.
